What to do if you Suspect a Break-in?
It’s the middle of the night and you hear a noise. Your spouse has roughly nudged you, whispering and asking you what it is. You think to yourself, “We’re in a safe part of Prince Albert. Break-ins happen in other neighbourhoods. It can’t be...”
But what if it is? What if there is a burglar rummaging through your home, looking to take your valuables? What do you do?
Hopefully this has never happened to you. And hopefully this never will happen to you. But a little bit of preparation can help make this frightening experience a little easier to handle.
The first thing to do is make a plan right now. Talk with your family about how you want to handle this situation. Talk about how you could escape from your home. Talk about where your family will go if they hear something.
Now if there is a burglar in your home, you have to be quiet. Burglars don’t like surprises, and a loud, scared family is a surprise. That’s why you don’t want them to know you can hear them.
Next, hide somewhere safe and call the police. Get behind a locked door, barricade it with some heavy furniture, and dial 911. Keep the line open so the dispatcher can hear everything.
Or you could just install a home alarm system before anything happens. You won’t be wondering whether or not it’s a burglar because the blaring alarm will have scared them away. You won’t need to stay quiet because the burglar is already running away. Our home alarms also automatically contact the police, saving you from trying to do it in a scared and panicked state.
At Scan Tech Alarms, we can show you the best systems for your home and keep your family safe. We offer all kinds of Home Alarm systems that are second to none.
